- The bat speed of the average major leaguer is 70 mph
- When swinging against 90 mph pitch, 0.003 seconds is the time difference between a hit and no contact
- It takes a 90 mph fastball 0.41 seconds to get to the plat
- After a 90 mph pitch leaves the pitchers hand, the batter must start his swing in 0.13 seconds in order to have a chance at contact
- The average time for a righthander to get down the line from home to 1st base after contact is 4.15 seconds
